Friends, if I could encourage you tonight in your efforts to achieve your health and fitness goals (or any goals, really) I would say please embrace the philosophy of IMPERFECT PROGRESS.
I get so sad when my clients think they have fallen off the wagon and they need to start all over again. They feel totally derailed. I think this mindset is harmful, because there is always, always, always going to be something to derail us -- too much work, a work trip, an emotional crisis, a sick child ... that's the stuff of life.
We are not here to do life perfectly. In fact, perfection isn't real. It only exists in Heaven. Instead of shooting for perfection, shoot for PROGRESS. And even then ... our progress isn't going to be perfect.
I wholeheartedly embrace Lysa TerKeurst's Quote: "Imperfect changes are slow steps of progress wrapped in grace ... imperfect progress!"
Yes, friends, wrap yourself in grace. Don't throw in the towel or think you need to start over. Just do your best each day! So, maybe your workout is 15 minutes instead of 30. Maybe you had a healthy breakfast and lunch, but dinner was not ... that's OK. Just take the next right step once you see you have gotten off your path.
You are on a journey to your best health, and it will never end until the day you meet your Maker!
