Now let’s Dive IN and talk about Your God-Given Beauty with Tricia Clarke. Today, I am so excited to be joined by a guest. Her name is Tricia Clarke: I’ve known Tricia for about 5 years now. We are both in a Christian Women’s Speaking group. She is a very special soul. Tricia is a makeup artist, wife, and mom to the adorable Jack. Tricia is someone who works to make the world a more joy-filled place. Through her Instagram, YouTube, and Zoom makeup classes, Tricia teaches women how to use simple makeup tools to enhance their confidence and embrace their God-given beauty. During her time as an event producer, makeup store manager, and bridal makeup artist, Tricia has learned alongside many brilliant entrepreneurs. In her podcast, Tea Time with Trish, she highlights these fellow creatives who are united by a common thread which is using their talents in the time they’ve been given, to shine their light in what can feel like a dark world. When she’s not sharing makeup tips or motherhood joys over tea, she can be found having dance parties in the living room (complete with disco ball) or trying new recipes in the kitchen. So, let’s welcome her. Welcome Tricia! Thank you … So happy to be here. Tricia, I asked you to come on my podcast and share with the world, from your heart what you most want the world to know. Will you share with us what that is? The overarching theme of the work I do revolves around the central idea that what makes us human is the fact that we are embodied spirit. We have to care for all aspects of ourselves in order to be healthy. I sum it up like this: You can work out regularly, eat well, have a great wardrobe and do your makeup perfectly, but if you neglect your spirit, you won't have a life worth living. You will likely feel unfulfilled and unsatisfied. On the flip side, you can read your Bible, and spend time in prayer and contemplation, but if you never get out of your sweats or learn how to fix your hair in a way that makes you feel good, you won't go out and live your life! My goal is to encourage women to care for themselves holistically and live loved, and the first step in that is often in teaching them how to use makeup as a tool! That sets them on a path to seeing and acknowledging their unique beauty, which allows them to see good in others. There's a ripple effect that touches everyone around them. Q: Why is this important to you? Your motherhood journey? A: Life experience Q: How do you accomplish that goal of helping women care for themselves holistically? A: I have a few avenues: Through lessons & classes (in-person and virtual) Instagram Lives, how-to videos and my podcast, which interviews other creatives doing the same type of thing in their fields. By building a team that creates opportunities for other artists in a way that stands out in a competitive, often petty industry. In working with brides and their families in way that is not just transactional. Q: What have you noticed about How have things changed in the time you've been a professional makeup artist? A: Women's expectations--there's a huge disparity. When I compare what women used to ask for when they came into the makeup store, and with what they request now at weddings, it's striking. Q: What can we do/Why does that matter? A: We have to take better control of what we allow to influence us--Word Before World. We have to strive for deeper connection and not be satisfied with shallowness. Is there a particular topic in this arena that you are passionate about? Yes, there is one about conflicting messages & what I think the antidote is - the messaging from culture is that women are enough just as they are, but many don't feel that way. At the same time, we tend to idolize celebrities or IG personalities and constantly compare our BTS (behind the scenes) to someone else's Highlight Reel. This comparison trap is incredibly harmful to women's self-esteem and psyches, and yet the shallow messages of "you're enough" "just do you" don't offer true encouragement. I want to lead women to the only source of peace--Jesus Christ. If you could talk heart to heart with a woman who is struggling with this, what would you say to her? I want to encourage women to care for themselves holistically and live loved. The talk gives them spiritual truths and practical tips to take care of themselves in this holistic way. I love that! Thank you so much! So we totally want people to follow you on Instagram. Can you give us your IG handle and tell people how they can get in touch with you. Podcast: Tea Time with Trish Thank you so much for sharing your story today. For inspiring us. And for showing us how important we all are and that the only true source of peace is Jesus. Thank you to everyone else! See you next week!
