Went to Christian therapy/counseling What does it feel like to start a new career at 50? What advice would you give our listeners who are starting a new career (at any age) and re-inventing themselves? It's been exciting and a bit scary at the same time. I feel like I am on a new adventure with God. I can't completely see the future, but I feel so happy and fulfilled to be doing speaking, writing and ministry. I know I am where He wants me to be. I have to be flexible and willing to change and learn new things. (Change is my word for 2021). Don't feel like you have to be perfect, just step out and try your best and trust the results to God. If you fail or fall, it's okay. Get back up and God will lead you again. Trust God with the results, just obey what He has asked you to do. How did you and your family cope with your son’s rare genetic disorder diagnosis? What advice would you give families with special needs children? Ashton was diagnosed with Noonan Syndrome in 2017. After the genetic test, good friend said, "Trust God with the results, with the outcome. Surrender it. Whatever is meant to be will happen and He will give you grace for it. I do believe God gives special grace for special needs. It doesn't mean you won't have really hard days. But God will give you strength to match your days. 1)Give yourself permission to grieve and process through everything. 2) Keep putting God first, spend time with Him individually and as a family in prayer and the Word of God. (Jesus came to give us life and life more abundantly!) 3) Embrace community, pray for God to bring you the right people. It takes a village or two! 4) Keep having fun! What advice would you give our listeners who are struggling with a long term medical condition or who are facing a an ongoing difficult situation? 1) Invite Jesus to meet you in the pain 2) Invite someone else in - a trusted friend, prayer partner, mentor, therapist and let them help you walk through 3) Keep connected to the people of God, we are stronger together. What changes have you made in your life to get unstuck and what advice would you give other moms who are taking care of families and working toward their personal goals? 1) I came up with a time management plan when kids were at home 30-30-30 speak, write and grow. I did something each day to move the needle forward. 2) Find a designated quiet place to work 3) Enlist help - ask your family to help at home, ask God to bring right people into your life, find a prayer partner I know you have overcome alcohol addiction and an abusive past. What advice would you give our listeners who want to develop their prayer life? 1) Be intentional 2) Set a place and time 3) Come with your Bible and journal. Presents your requests, but take time to listen as well. You have worked through a number of painful family situations and betrayal in your life. How has forgiveness played a role in your healing process? Day 19 Forgive & Be Free, explains the analogy of forgiving so you are not held back in your life. Forgiveness has truly set me free! Explain Choosing to Forgive, Praying a Blessing over those who hurt you. Two sides of the coin, forgiveness and reconciliation. You talk a lot about the power in community and finding a pray partner. Do you have advice for our listeners who have been wounded or are feeling isolated right now? How can they find a prayer partner and healthy community? Also, forgiving pastors who have fallen and to keep loving the church, the Bride of Christ. If you love Jesus, you will love His Bride. Just like people who truly love you, love your spouse. People may have hurt you, but people will also help you heal. Pray God brings you the right prayer partner (s) and seek Christian community. How have you and your husband worked to get unstuck from all of these challenges and what strategies have you implemented to strengthen your marriage? 1) We have worked to create time and space for each other. We started going on a weekly date night during the pandemic. We also try to get away together alone (even for one night) once or twice a year. 2) We have gone to Christian counseling together - within the year Ashton was diagnosed 3) We work to stay on the same page as parents and support each other, even implement family meetings. 4) We support and help each other reach our goals in ministry and business. 5) We have been making time to go to the health club and work out together. 6) We make time to talk & be intimate in the evening - at least once or twice a week.
