How to get your husband to listen to you

Have you ever felt like your husband doesn't listen to you? Do you hate having to say, "We need to sit down and talk." (Your husband hates hearing that, too.) But we do need to talk through issues....so what do we do?

One simple tool is to go for a walk. Why? Face-to-face conversation about stressful topics can be too intense for many men.

Men prefer to do activities side-by-side. Think about how they spend time with their buddies. Usually doing something recreational, not necessarily sitting down for coffee to talk like we do with our girlfriends.

So if you want your husband to hear you, you've got to meet him where he is at.

The next time you need to have a conversation with your husband, instead of sitting on the sofa or at the kitchen table, invite him to go for a walk. See if you get better results.
